For Parents

If you are a parent of a daughter in her tweens or teens,
this page is for you!

Have you ever wondered what is happening to your 'little girl'?  Does it seem like yesterday she was an energetic preadolescent with an abundance of confidence and ambition?  Now the close relationship you once had is turning to bickering and it feels difficult to do anything right in her eyes?

You are not alone.  "In fact, in early adolescence, studies show that girls' IQ scores drop and their math and science scores plummet.  They lose their resiliency and optimism and become less curious and inclined to take risks.  They lose their assertive, energetic and 'tomboyish' personalities and become more deferential, self-critical and depressed.  They report great unhappiness with their own bodies (Pipher, 1994)."  It does not have to be that way...

BRIDGES programs offer an opportunity for your daughter to connect with her peers in a safe, encouraging environment.  She will participate in activities and support groups led by professionally trained, energetic adult facilitators that will empower her to love herself and to reach for her potential.  Mission Statement
